(28,108 posts)...when they were "Savannahs". IDK what they are now, but they're not as good, IMHO. Now, I'd have to say Thin Mints. (But WHEN are they going to make me thin??

(2,602 posts)Of course, with my having given up chocolate for Lent, my boxes (one of each) will remain uneaten until the end of Lent. But come Easter Sunday, watch out! I plan to gorge on them with a nice cup of hot tea or two.

They just don't taste the same. I used to like the mints but now the smell of them makes me sick. It doesn't taste like they use real butter in the shortbread cookies anymore either. I guess the peanut butter sandwich cookies are okay.
I hate when manufacturers change their product to cut costs.

(979 posts)...I'd get the thin mints. Nowadays, I only see scouts selling cookies outside the grocery store. It was typically $5 for less than half a pound of cookies; I bet the packages are smaller and the prices higher these days. I can make cookies now which are quite good and buy cookies which are lots cheaper, so girl scout cookies have little place in my life these days. But it does call to mind a favorite quote from a movie (Addams Family Values):
Girl Scout: Is this made from real lemons? I only like all natural foods and beverages. Are you sure they're real lemons?
Pugsley: Yes.
Girl Scout: Well, I'll tell you what. I'll buy a cup if you buy a box of my delicious girl scout cookies. Do we have a deal?
Wednesday Addams: Are they made from real Girl Scouts?

I agree with you about the Samoas......yummy!
I bought three boxes this morning on my way to a potluck. I got one of the Samoas, one of the peanut butter, and one of the lemon.

(1,881 posts)Those were the oatmeal cookies with peanut butter, right?
But yeah, theyve gotten skimpy on the cookies as the price goes up. Back in the day, we had to do it ALLgo door to door and sell those damned things, then when your troop received their order, you had to go back around the neighbourhood to deliver and collect payment. What does it teach kids about business when theyre all sold by mums at a card table as a kid or two fidgets awkwardly?
