A catholic priest going to his car after Ash Wednesday services is accosted by a masked gunman who demands the priest

empty his pockets. The priest searches his pockets only to find a few pieces of licorice handing them to the robber. “Damn padre!” says the thief, “I gave up candy for lent!”.

...took me aback to see so many parents and kids coming in with what looked like bruises on their foreheads until it would finally down on me, "Oh yeah, Ash Wednesday."

A friend asked me what I gave up for lent. I told her I was Baptist and we didn't have to give up anything, since everything was a sin all year long, lol.
