(75,855 posts)Usually tellers know what to do, so it's not like he'd need an appointment with a VP.
I was on the board of a pretty big CU for a long time & found them to be pretty flexible & the tellers to be very kno

I have signed with "Beth" or "E" or "Elizabeth." All have been fine.

(2,836 posts)MY GUESS: I would just sign it with the same signature you sign your checks and such with. I think what they'll care most about is that there's an account they can take it BACK from if the check-writer were to complain. They care less about the signature matching the name on the check than they would about the sig being the recognized one of the account holder into who's account the funds were placed. I think your signature is essentially saying "I promise this is written to me". That's my guess that seems logical but could be wrong
Hope your feeling better lately Lucky my man!

(18,721 posts)Sign the name written on the face of the check as spelled.
Below sign your name as you would per the legal name your account is registered to.
If it's written to Peggy Smith, sign Peggy Smith then sign Margaret A Smith below.

(13,895 posts)Write the payee name then your legal name below it. But if it's a common nickname, like "Joe" for "Joseph", it's usually no necessary.

(6,477 posts)I'd think the bigger issue would be your ID vs the payee name.
As someone else suggested, go inside the bank and speak with a teller. I'm sure payee name issues like this crop up all the time.

LuckyCharms
(21,813 posts)I explained the entire situation to the teller, and she told me to just use my traditional signature. I did so, and deposited the check.
She did, however, securitize the check for about 30 seconds. It got kind of wadded up in my pocket because I shoveled snow with it in my pocket prior to going to the bank. Also, the person who made that check out from the organization that held the raffle had really terrible handwriting. These things made the check look really sketchy.
I'm not sure how I would have fared if I tried to do a mobile deposit on my phone with that check.
Thank you all for your responses.

(11,529 posts)I was just reminiscing about the time I called you by Harker's handle by mistake.
True Dough
(25,842 posts)should be named Harker. Then you'd never have to worry.
I can't remember who it was, but someone made a suggestion that we all should change our handles to Floyd R Turbo.
It was a long time ago but that suggestion still makes me laugh to this day.
We'll have to put it to a vote: "Harker" or "Floyd R Turbo".

(25,842 posts)If we were all Floyd, the world would quickly run out of emojis.
Niagara
(11,529 posts)I found some cool emojis but the html in them sometimes changes them to DU emojis.
