the 14thof December. I have taken out my menorah that my great grandmother gave me as she was driven out of the Ukrainian village by the Russians. Dreidel and potato pancakes are a must for me .May your Holiday bring you light and your own personal miracles.
You can post your own message of light and miracles. PS. I am a cultural Jew and not a practicing Jew but I still follow the celebrations of my material great grandmother.

(25,443 posts)Growing up I lived in one 2/3rds Jewish neighborhood and another that was maybe near 50% or so. A mix if conservatives, reform, and maybe some cultural Jews.
Anyway, there's the Holiday of Sokkot a harvest and commenting the Egyptian Exodus festival, after the high holy days. A temporary structure is built; a sukhat. They have meals, and singing there.
I know this because they built them in our buildings' inner courtyards.
I mentioned this because you can look up a exhibit that was held in Manhattan's Union Square Park ? 20 or so years back that featured variously designed sukhats.
I went to see it in person. As lover of architecture big, and small this was very interesting!
But I also remembering some years later found photos on line.
ETA. Yup you can still find it on line
