...but I also supply pecan pie & a baby apple pie for my husband because it's his favorite. That may sound like a lot of pie, but it never goes to waste!

(25,898 posts)We also love Dutch Apple Crumb Pies, both homemade of course!
When mom was alive she made these awesome peanut butter pies that were to die for, but they were difficult to make with a homemade custard, and no one else loves them like I do so those have gone away - sadly!

(3,676 posts)Mince pie with coffee in the am. Yum.
Or the recipe on the back of the mincemeat jar - mincemeat for the bottom half of the.pie and apple for the top.

(13,788 posts)I am Canadian born, so it is my preferred alternative to pecan. No corn syrup--just 100% maple syrup instead, and lots of toasted walnuts giving it a heavenly crunch. TO DIE FOR!!!

(8,733 posts)I grew up in upstate New York. That's apple country, and we would go apple picking every fall. I remember my mother, sister and I sitting in front of the TV watching football on the Sunday before Thanksgiving peeling apples while my older sister baked pies in the kitchen, with the smell of apple pie wafting through the house.
Ah, fond memories.

(179 posts)Just as a default setting, I love almost ALL pies. 😃 If y'all could see my fat ass in person, that would be obvious. 🤣
Here in the south, we also serve sweet potato pie for Turkey Day.
But seriously, how can you go wrong with other pies? Blueberry, strawberry, rhubarb, peach, apple, pecan, key lime, lemon meringue, etc., etc., etc......is there a bad pie?

(39,661 posts)there are several recipes. Its connection to Indians is thats its Indian corn meal.
milk, butter, molasses, eggs, spices, and cornmeal. I have made it several times its best when its baked long and on low heat. Most packets of corn meal have a recipe on it.
Pumpkin pie consistence, but better.
debm55
(55,801 posts)With cornbread and corn. I stopped making because no one ate it except me.

(460 posts)I don't care that much for pecan pie, it's too rich. But my guys love them and I've made so many over the years that I expect I could make one blindfolded and one hand tied behind my back.

(25,939 posts)Chocolate Cream, pecan, apple, or coconut cream.
A then nyc (late '80's) small pie company made a ?sour cream walnut apple pie. Oh, it was sooo good! But when they got bigger they changed it. Not as good.
I wish I liked key lime, but it's too strong for me. (like regular limes)
Some people add chocolate, or chocolate chips to their pecan pie! Yum.
