Pickle day was a big day when I was a kid. My grandmother made a few jars of sweet relish, but dills were the focus of the day. Two of my aunts would join her & one always made a few jars with hot peppers in them, too, & by the end of the day there wasn't a space that didn't have a jar of pickles on it. 🥒🥒🥒🥒🥒

When I was pretty little, maybe 5 or 6, my dad got a 'deal' on a bushel of cucumbers.... well that was the Summer of Pickles

We made EVERY kind you can imagine, jars and jars of them... since I was so little, and my parents wanted to keep me busy, I wasd assigned as the pickle brine stirrer... for hours I'd stand on a chair and stir the cauldron. The smell was all over me, in my hair, my skin...I HATED pickles for EVER!

Only now will I have a rare nibble of a dill pickle on a lark...but everything I order is NO pickles or mustard! both those tastes and smells are just EW!

also savoring Wickle's Pickles... the wicked ones. Mostly because we like to say Wickles Pickles.

When I can successfully grow cucumbers and can harvest the babies, I also love a pint or two of homemade cornichons, which have a side benefit of supplying tarragon vinegar. I have been unable to successfully make kosher dills, but the effort alone proves my love for them.

Sweet gherkins, not so much.

Pickles are vile. And you can’t just take them off a sandwich either because they leave a taste behind. BLECCH.

The pickle taste lingers!!! May as well throw away the whole sandwich, lol... (raw onions do that to me as well)

had a bad yr where tomatoes didnt ripen, so i made a virtue of a vice and pickles them green.

common in the mexican restaurants around here. carrots, onions and jalepenos.
i’ve made them myself. best w multicolor carrots. purple is my favorite flavor.

They are hard to find these days, but they add the pop to my tuna sandwiches.

I like picked green beans, okra, sweet peppers, hot peppers, beets, cauliflower, carrots. My grandma made piccalilli (I think it is kind of like mustard pickles) that was always set out on the table with meals, along with other kinds of relish she made. If we told our grandma we had a stomach ache, she would give us a drink of pickle juice. 😊 Love your threads, Deb, and hope you are feeling well!🩷

If Petites are all gone some dill hamburger slices will work.

They're an awesome garnish for a Bloody Mary, lol.

Don't care for sweet pickles of any type.
But, any dill pickle. The garlic in Kosher dill is right up my alley.

Taramind, onion, coriander mint, and coconut. Yuuuum!

I usually get the Mt. Olive ones, chopped. I can use them in tartar sauce, deviled eggs, chicken salad, on sandwiches, anywhere, really.

i liked the old midget dills.
