Difficult words and how you learned to spell them

It's kind of funny, I write for a living, and yet I'm a terrible speller!

Here are some of mine.
Renaissance--I worked in the Renaissance Center in Detroit
Odyssey--I coached a kids Odyssey of the Mind team
Chocolate--A friend opened a soda shop called the Chocolate Bar Cafe
Abyssinian--I have an Abyssinian cat

Yours?

Spelled it wrong (e before i) in the final round of my 4th grade spelling bee. Runner up isn't so bad. Or so my therapist tells me 40 years later...

those memory sentences we used as kids, like I Eat Green Caterpillars to remember Io, Europa, Ganymede, Calisto.

One from maybe 4th grade was "Look at nothing good u and good Eddie." Obviously don't need to make sense to help me remember.

Also like being able to blame autocorrect which I call autocorrupt. Used to be good at terrible handwriting to mask my misspelling.

One of my favorite bosses was so good, when I'd ask him how to spell a word, he'd only say the part I was struggling with.

Where I was born.
Unconstitutional...won a spelling bee in 6th grade with that one. Actually an easy word to sound out in your head.
