Mine is not that obscure, but I had not heard or thought about it for quite some time. Great throughout, but the ending just slays me.

I will have my attorneys contacting you bc I threw my back out—while laying down, mind you—to that JB tune. Holy crap, pure dynamite. I mean just too, too good. Good God y’all.
Now, if you had led w the Sly tune, it might have warmed things up first and we wouldn’t be in this situation. Seriously funky. I think of myself as knowing lot of SatFS tunes, but I guess its largely the hits. So much of what he did after the first wave of hits was so slinky and sexy at its core. Plus, I had a bit of a crush on Cynthia to begin with, so there’s a multiplying factor for ya.

A bit of connecting trivia: The bass player in the 5 Stairsteps (the third singer in your videos) is also playing bass on that Sly Stone tune I posted.
His name is Keni Burke, and he went on to become a session player and producer. After the 5 Stairsteps, he played with Billy Preston, Mavis Staples, Gladys Knight, Bill Withers, Curtis Mayfield, and on and on.
Didn’t know they were like this live. Wow. Those “bit ragged but right” horns are devine. Thanks for hipping me, my friend.
