I find them fascinating. You know, random meetings or reunions that changed the course of things. Actors, athletes, musicians, etc that grew up in close proximity, went to same high school, etc?
Some of you all might find my offering on the weak side, but it amazes me nonetheless: Chuck Berry and Miles Davis grew up roughly 18 miles apart in the St Louis area and were born within 5 months of each other. Quite possibly the two most important American musicians of the 20th century. I mean, what would jazz and rock and roll be without them? Probably shaped by same radio stations and music they heard there.
Anyhow, I love learning and ruminating on them, so share your faves if you have any, even if well known.

(4,087 posts)Music Icons Dying in Harry Nilssons Apartment
Singer Harry Nilsson once owned a small Mayfair flat in London that, on the surface, may have seemed unremarkable. What makes the location eerily notable, however, is its connection to music history beyond just who owned it. Indeed, what makes it more significant isnt who lived therebut who died there. The Whos drummer Keith Moon sadly overdosed in the rented apartment in 1978 at age 32, while singer Cass Elliot passed from a heart ailment there in 1974also at age 32!

Kent State
Hynde, Casale, and Mothersbaugh were all students at Kent State University when the National Guard shot and killed four student protesters on May 4, 1970. Casale and Mothersbaugh were inspired to form Devo by the shooting, which they believed represented a regression of society. Hynde was in a band at Kent called Sat. Sun. Mat. that included Mothersbaugh.

There masterpiece album "Learning To Crawl" came out in '84 though. Maybe that's what triggered your recollection.
