As for the avocado, I have two avocado trees in my yard. Highly recommend this as the best way to get perfectly ripe avocados. Store bought? Good luck!

lives in Alabama now and raises chickens there, It snowed there this week. The chickens mostly had the same negative reaction to the snow, although some eventually toughed it out. Pictures.
