It's confirmed regarding my clogged kitchen sink.

It isn't an amalgam of grease (I never pour grease down the drain), or bits of stuff that got past my strainer, etc.

There is an incredible back-up of street sludge from the public water system. It's black, thick, and putrid.

My landlord used his super-snake and found it nearly impossible to break up the clog. He's getting more tools now.

Hot water, then pure bleach let it sit, then flush with hot water again.

Be careful not to splash yourself with the hot water,.. from the stove to the sink.

Good luck.

What can he do about the sludge? I would be boiling my water if that shit was in my water. Maybe he could find some kind of filter for your water, a heavy-duty filter. Sounds like the city needs to pay for it.
