Something to ponder. Why do some crackers have holes in them and some don't? thank you (Original Post) debm55 Jan 2025 OP
If made with recipies that 'puff up' when baked, the holes keep the dough from becoming one big puff Attilatheblond Jan 2025 #1
Then why don't they make them out of the same dough? I was thinking of the use of the the crackers. For spreads--no debm55 Jan 2025 #4

Some recipes make a dough that won't puff.

For that matter, why 13 holes in male urinals? Incredibly important philosophical points to ponder.

…”plumbing,” so to speak. I guess you gotta do something while standing there waiting for your bladder to empty.

At the Allstate office where my dad worked, he said there were signs in the men’s rooms saying -
We aim to please.
You aim too, please.

my response would be one pointing the manufacturers as being hypocrites in manufacturing these crackers, they'll claim some obscure reasons for making the holes in the crackers, but the reality of it is, is that they are saving money, so if 10% of the crackers comprise the holes in each cracker, they saved enough material to make 10% more crackers at no additional cost.

If the holes are 20% of the volume of each cracker, then they saved 20%, and so forth.

Before we know it, they'll be putting out empty boxes of crackers, claiming 100% savings on calories, crackers w/ tons of holes being more nutritional than other brands, claims that the boxes are far more able to last longer w/o preservatives, etc.

Steam produces puffy crackers like goldfish or soup crackers.

Holes provide a vent for the steam so it can stay flat.

Some men, uh, use a toilet as a urinal, sometimes without lifting the seat... or attempting to clean it after....

Mrs. Unblock gives me mixed reports about women's bathrooms. Both of use avoid public toilets except in emergencies.
