I'm never going to own or ride in a driverless car!

And, I hope to never meet one on the rode!

I think I'd freak out if I ever met one of Elon's driverless trucks!

But saw a video of a guy driving his car in auto mode. When it made a turn it went into a light rail track that had curbs on each side instead of the actual road. He was stuck in it until he could get past that area at a light. He saw a tram coming up behind him and decided he needed to run the red light to get away.

Side note: just using gps they can put you in the same situation. In North Carolina it sent me into a circle going around the same blocks. Once it sent me down a dirt road that was impassable unless you had a 4 wheel drive truck. I was in a large rv.

9. Glitches will happen, but Waymo's idea of customer support is disturbing.

Customer support required the rider to jump through technical hoops to override a major screwup.
Fortunately in this case, the rider was a tech guy more unflappable than most end users.

Emergency intervention needs to be simple and fool-proof. This isn't.
