Joe Biden's old problems are now Donald Trump's problems -- and Americans think Trump is making them even worse
by McCauley Pugh
I have previously argued here on The Cascadia Advocate that Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election because of three key issues: inflation, immigration and wars. Voters thought Joe Biden had lost control in these areas and felt Trump had handled them better during his first term. They also thought Kamala Harris was focused on the wrong things. Voters thus rewarded Trump with another term.
But Trumps numbers are now underwater on all of these issues.
To make matters worse for him and his political movement, voters now have negative impressions that are driving the downturn in his approval rating, in particular because of his war with Iran, his tariffs, and his mass deportation campaign in the Twin Cities last winter. And they do not think Trump is focused on what is important.
However, while Trumps approval is in the depths, Democrats cant expect to simply win by default in the midterms. How they campaign is going to matter.

(23,442 posts)What will it take? Maybe they need to have their bank accounts drained completely by this grifting PoS? Maybe they need to have a bridge collapse underneath their vehicle before it'll sink in? Maybe their spouse or child needs to be arrested or shot or killed before they become convinced their problems are worse?
