No Public Dollars for Private Schools

So-called “school vouchers” sound innocuous, but what they really do is leave your local public schools high and dry while funneling money meant for them into private schools.

And it’s unfortunately gaining steam in states across the country. State legislatures are passing private school voucher schemes that keep public schools dangerously underfunded and leave rural kids with fewer and fewer resources.

Here’s how:

Costs: The average voucher doesn’t cover the full cost of the average private school tuition, so families must pay the difference.

Distance: Most private schools are in cities and suburbs. The closest ones to rural communities are often too far away to be practical to attend.

public school funds that are paid by taxpayers. There’s going to be no adequate funds if private schools take another bite at the apple.

It's just one more way to funnel taxpayer funds to religious institutions .
