The MAGA Nightmare is Almost Over, America.

This will all be over soon, America.
The sundowning of the MAGA movement is upon us.
The signs are everywhere.
As much as History can be an albatross in moments like these, alerting us to the terrifying ways in which we are repeating the past pathologies of inhumanity, she can also be a source of comfort; a reminder of the inevitability of the endings of all evil things.

If we consult her with a clear head, she’ll remind us that all brutal empires fall,
that all hateful movements dissolve, that every seemingly bulletproof regime reaches its extinction, and that all malevolent momentary victors eventually find themselves defeated and driven out.

Every time the pendulum has swung wildly toward barbarism in a society, it has invariably come back with even greater opposite force to bend the arc of the moral universe back toward justice again.

And History tells us that, despite the story in our heads or the one that comes through the partisan propaganda that we’re continually saturated by, our brutal national nightmare is likely in its final hours.

And with shitty health care please.

It's our job to minimize the damage and help bring about a swifter end.

The fascist playbook is powerfully uses resentment, racism, xenophobia, fake religion and shoddy sham nationalism (among others) to rile up the people and lose their decency, money, and even lives for the "Leader" and industrialist cadre.

Note to Trump: the German industrialists got off scot-free. Hitler didn't.

Here's the good and the bad.

I have always argued on principle, while noting that Democratic economies outperform Repubilcan ones. Nobody listens.

It's all in the propaganda. The cult was mesmerized into believing that Biden's revolutionary "bottom up" economy was in fact a depression, But the Trump Trash economy is well, a wreck.

And the lies are contradicting themselves in a way that's hard to ignore. Lies and denial are part of cult "culture" and some do break free when the contradictions are very clear

And well, .... the shit hits the fan. It's no longer fun and games when groceries are out of sight.

I don't know why they call this stuff Hamburger Helper lt does just fine by itself

HOWEVER: Trump is a cornered dying animal. He is going to become more dangerous every day until he finally dies. I can only imagine the various disasters he will cause before that happens.

And no matter what happens to Trump, the economy is teetering on the edge of a major crash. I'm talking about a crash of 1929 dimensions. Of course Trump will make it worse. That is going to become a huge issue for all of us.

Bottom line: We are in for a very rough time for the next several years. I feel like the only positive is that in '26 and '28 we can and will elect people that will be able to start the process of digging us out from under this mess.

But it will still be a long slog ahead repairing the damage done..it was fueled by this technofascist cult that tried to bamboozle the public with an appearance of technocratic muscle bolstering the fascism.

I don’t think this accelerationist bunk had any there there. It’s complete bullshit. I am reading a book by this scientist Adam Becker called “What is Real?”. But it’s his latest book that I think will interest me even more:
https://www.truthdig.com/articles/the-mad-religion-of-technological-salvation/

I wouldn’t say I have been depressed, but I have been confused by how the most familiar and least alienating of all things -science and medicine- have had a new-agey, spooky and grotesque flair in the last 15 years but more overtly lately.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

But yeah I think it is finally over or on its way out. Good..I can go and focus on wrapping up a paper I have been working on for longer than I care to remember and refocus on science but without creepy, new agey or other driveling shit.
Yeesh..
Man I hate everything..
The last 15 years are the worst drivel I have ever seen. These technofascists..there really is no there there..

11. Tech Salvation?
Mon Dec 1, 2025, 11:20 PM

The idea has merit but it now depends on the mindset of those techies with the most influence and money. And those people are likely not motivated by altruism as they still have primitive hunter/gatherer ape minds wired for US vs Them. So the first step toward any kind of tech renaissance must be to literally change everyone's minds so they would override their primitive selfish instincts and get on with the business of what John Lennon sang about in "Imagine."

I do consider him a prophet in the original sense of someone who fearlessly speaks truth to power. (Foretelling the future was just frosting on the cake.)

Because it's a cult, and cults, if thet crash,, crash pretty quickly and pretty much all st once,
I have no quarrel with the concept that when it goes, it will go rapidly. But as far as when, I have no idea. Interestingly, Michael Fanone recently said basicall the same things as John, and they may nboth be correct. I too hope so., Being human, I dislike uncertainty.

I refer you to the events of January 6 where Trump, facing his loss of power after the election, rallied his thugs in an attempted insurrection. They, and he, were just a Mike Pence away from an actual subversion of the voter's will.

Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train.

….but we can use some of that.

I think that it will be hard to decide when (if) it actually is over. In my view it will not be over until all accounts are settled and all the historical records are set straight. Any point where this can begin is a win, but will still be a long time until it’s over. Educating the people is as important as any other part of the process.
