Trump to host opening bell ceremony Monday to celebrate Trump Accounts

President Trump will host officials from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq in the Oval Office on Monday, to mark his administration’s launch of new investment accounts for children.

The Treasury Department launched the “Trump Accounts” on July 4, allowing the accounts to receive contributions. An app for parents to fund their child’s account and explore financial education modules is also fully updated as of Saturday, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said last week officials from the two stock exchanges will ring their opening bells from the White House. Trading is open on the NYSE and Nasdaq from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.

“We’re having a big opening bell ceremony next week, where the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange are going to ring the bell from the Oval [Office] for the first time together,” Hassett told host Joe Kernen on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” “And they’re doing that to celebrate the accounts, to make sure everybody knows it’s time to get an account for your kid,” he added. Trump’s public schedule for Monday includes a 9:30 a.m. Trump Accounts launch.

This morning in the Oval Office.

Shortly after the photo was taken, the next of kin for each child was forced to make a sizable cash payment for each child before they were allowed to leave. Maybe. No one really knows for sure what happened next.

But it was probably shady, whatever it was.

I read that they are planning to put "America 250" and/or "Trump Accounts" on newly issued Social Security cards (I guess for kids or babies). I can't remember which - or maybe both.

IF that's true, then it's the clearest sign yet that they plan to privatize Social Security - maybe by slowly killing the existing system and turning it into these stock market things - which essentially is a gambling casino. Because everyone wants their retirement money in a gambling casino. Right?

I haven't had my TV on all weekend so I missed the story you're referring to. It's possible but unlikely that MS-Now accepted advertising from the "Trump Accounts" organization. (Assuming that it's even a business at this point.)

It's much more likely that MS-Now ran a news story about the development, and some viewers mistook it for a paid advertisement.

Especially young children that qualify for the free $1000 startup.

It’s a great idea that will live on after Trump is gone. Hate his name being attacked to it, but being able to start something for your children at birth is just a sound idea.

I don’t care if his name is on it, these are IRAs backed by our federal government. Not taking advantage of them is a loss.

I think he knows most liberals won’t invest in them and it will be their children’s loss.

They're dumb and the only concretely worthwhile aspect of them is the free $1000K for very young children. They're basically going to be double taxed and it would be better just to put the money into a regularly brokerage account for your child both for tax strategy and investment options.

The only other tangential benefit I can see is that maybe it gets more people to invest for their children who wouldn't have done it without these new accounts.

Dems would be smart when they regain power to fix them, take away the name on them, and provide serious tax benefits to them.
