Great American State Fair Visitors On Life Support Amid Extreme Heatwave

Several visitors to Washington, D.C.'s Great American State Fair required life support and were hospitalized as extreme heat swept across the capital on Friday, prompting organizers to temporarily shut down the event amid triple-digit temperatures.

The reported hospitalizations came as a powerful heat dome gripped much of the eastern U.S. as the Fourth of July holiday approached, with some forecasters warning that hundreds of daily records could fall.

Meanwhile, a Great American State Fair attendee previously told Fox 5 she sought relief from Washington, D.C.'s oppressive heat in an unusual place this week—a baptism pool inside a religious tent—after becoming overwhelmed by sweltering temperatures.

Good job Donny you changed the name from America 250 to Freedom 250, then stole its money
that was set aside to pay for a non partisan celebration of America’s 250 years, your Great
American Shit Show is a complete flop, and it is making people have heat strokes. No shade,
no place to sit down, and no planning.

You should be removed for this alone you grifting con man.

I'm surprised the faith healers at Trump's tent revival didn't lay hands on this poor woman.

3. There's a good chance that Newsweek is reading too much into this.

Across the river from DC, in Alexandria, Virginia, if a call comes into 911 and an EMS unit is dispatched, it will be a truck labeled "Basic Life Support" or "Advanced Life Support." That doesn't mean that if someone ends up getting transported to the hospital he'll be sent to an ICU and put on life support. He might just end up in the emergency room, where he's treated and released.

I'd like some verification from DC FEMS before I put any faith into this Newsweek article.

And good morning.

My first reaction was "what do they mean by life support" - I found it hard to believe that that many people were actually needed what is medically considered life support. You helped answer my question.

vehicles dispatched by DC FEMS and went from there.

All that indicates is the level of support DC FEMS is capable of providing during transport to a hospital. EMT? Paramedic? How many?

Once you get to the hospital, who knows how you'll end up.

Republicans said that was a hoax...are you going to believe them or your lying eyes? No wonder they took critical thinking out of public schools.

American red cross

"Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation of emergency care, designed to keep a person alive during cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, or choking until advanced medical help arrives. It focuses on prompt recognition of emergencies, high-quality CPR, and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)."
