I teach public speaking and in such courses I used to tell students that Clinton was the first president who didn't read a speech. He did read them, but he would often interject his own thoughts here and there throughout the speech. This drove his speech writers crazy! I cannot, however, think of a time when Clinton's off the cuff interjections caused any serious problems for the U.S. If any posters can, please speak up.

My point, however, is that traditionally presidential speeches are read and from which the president rarely deviates. There is an important reason for this, and what you see trump doing is exactly why presidents are dissuaded from speaking extemporaneously.

And while some politicians have the self discipline to write well thought out, measured posts, trump - the angry pathological liar and self centered sod that he is - spews without any thought to what the effect might be.

Social media is a form of communication that is beneath the office of the presidency.

Remember how Kamala Harris held out for an interview on television when she was running? She made them compete. Smart, classy move.
