Jon Ossoff and Keisha Lance Bottoms show off head start in Georgia as Republicans battle in runoff

ATLANTA (AP) — Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia blasted his potential general election rivals on Sunday, casting Rep. Mike Collins and former football coach Derek Dooley as unqualified lackeys for President Donald Trump.

“It doesn’t matter which one wins,” Ossoff told an exuberant crowd at The Tabernacle, a downtown Atlanta concert venue. “They’re both Trump puppets.”

Ossoff campaigned with Democratic candidate for governor Keisha Lance Bottoms, the former Atlanta mayor, in what their advisers described as the first of many joint rallies intended to showcase them as a team. The Democrats spoke behind a lectern decked with a placard that read “United for Georgia.”

It was a contrast to Republicans, who are still battling amongst themselves to determine their party’s nominees for Senate and governor. Hours before Ossoff and Bottoms appeared together, Collins and Dooley spent the afternoon going after each other on the debate stage ahead of their June 16 runoff.

Senator Jon Ossoff: Georgia Will Not Bow To A King
Senator Jon Ossoff: "Let's make sure they hear it all the way down at Mar a Lago, that Georgia will bow to no king!"

Senator Jon Ossoff gave a speech on May 31 that fired up voters. Watch the above video of Ossoff and get inspired. One of my favorite quotes from Ossoff's speech:

"Let's make sure they hear it all the way down at Mar a Lago, that Georgia will bow to no king!"

As we approach the 250th anniversary of America, Trump is holding a UFC cage match at the White House. It's easy to get discouraged about our country, but watching Jon Ossoff's speech reminds us that there are leaders who want to serve the people.

Jon Ossoff's Speech Rallies Voters

CBS News reported that Ossoff and Democratic gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms spoke to a packed audience in Atlanta on Sunday to highlight the problems of Trump and cronies leading America.

............. Here are a few banger quotes from Ossoff's Atlanta speech:

"Americans are not a race, we're a people. United not by ethnicity but by our shared convictions, and that is what makes us exceptional. And a beacon to the world."

"This is what small men like Donald Trump and JD Vance and Stephen Miller will never understand—that our national greatness flows not through our blood or our genes, but through our ideas."

Not opponent! ENEMY!!! We all should be hand in hand like the photo! Even the loser of a primary should.

Primaries only weaken candidates by giving the enemy their opposition research for them and, at least with us, the people who supported the loser in the primary carry that grudge into the general election.

I supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 completely. When he lost, I did what any sensible candidate did: nursed my wounds for my candidate not winning and supported HRC completely. Did the same in 2024 when Biden dropped out due to whatever stupid reason was hammered home because of the first debate performance. I supported Harris COMPLETELY. Unfortunately, a lot of Bernie supporters are angrier with the Democrats than the Republicans which I have no idea why, so they either stay home or vote third party and help Republicans. Which is why I've called them faux-gressives for at least three decades!

I want John Fetterman primaried, but I know he will go LOW on the candidate that runs against him. He will do the Republican's research and attack ads for them. So WHEN he loses (and he will), the Republicans will continue the attack ads he made. Happens ALL the time. Sinema did it to Gallego and the Republicans in Arizona used her ads to attack Gallego. Not the ads specifically, but the ideas from the ads.

Primaries are to show how you will better represent the party. They turn into mini-elections that destroy the winning candidate. The Republicans now are proving that because these two fools on the Republican side are trying to destroy each other by showing how "not-as-Trumpy" the other is. It will damage them in the general and Ossoff already has the attack ads lined up because of it.
