Police Rush to Supreme Court Justice's Home After Gunshots Reported in Apparent Swatting Attempt: Report

Source: MEDIAite

Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett was reportedly the victim of attempted swatting, according to new dispatch audio released on Thursday

Washington, D.C. journalist Andrew Leyden posted about the alleged incident on Thursday, including the audio of police responding to supposed gunshots outside Barrett’s Virginia home.

“Police responded to a call for the sound of gunshots at the home of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett last night, but quickly realized it was a swatting call and cleared after meeting with her security detail. This is partial police audio, redacted pursuant to media reporting guidelines on coverage of swatting incidents,” Leyden posted.

In the audio, the dispatcher acknowledges the call about gunshots being fired may be a swatting attempt, which is when people falsely call 911 about a fake violent crime taking place at a specific address.

I was actually involved in a surgery with a small team--when the local cops came barging in to the outer part of the clinic and had them yelling at me with guns barred but I stood my ground and they did NOT dare come into surgery.

Later it appeared it was a disgruntled employee and not one focused on me, but rather another who worked there. Local cops told me it was almost unheard of at the time. They don't say so now, obviously.

Stressful and abhorrent thing to do which could get someone killed.

2. many swat calls end up at the wrong address.
3. those police have other duties. i wonder how many fake swat calls are actually diversions from real crimes.

It is very dangerous to involve police to any situation so they shouldn't be used like that unless it is absolutely necessary.
