Netanyahu says he directed Israeli military to take over 70% of Gaza

Source: CNN

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that he has directed Israel’s military to take over 70% of Gaza’s territory.

During an interview at a conference in the occupied West Bank, Netanyahu said that Israel is “tightening” its grip on Hamas. “We are now in 60% of the territory of the Gaza Strip. We were at 50%. We moved to 60%,” he said. “My directive is to move to — take it step by step — first of all 70. Let’s start with that.” As Netanyahu spoke, the audience called for him to take over all of Gaza’s territory.

In late April, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued maps to international aid groups that showed the military already controlling approximately 64% of Gaza.

The seizure of more of Gaza would force approximately 2 million Palestinians into a shrinking fraction of the coastal enclave’s shattered territory.

do bear responibility because THEIR actions directly contributed to the reelection of trump.

As far as your assertion that "Israel owns this"? not entirely. Are you leaving Hamas and their October 7th actions out intentionally, because that was the catalyst that started this disaster, and indirectly helped trump into the WH also.

And for those who believe there was no difference between Biden/Harris and trump, their stupidity or ignorance is on full display.

The Biden administration not only paused specfic shipments of heavy munitions to Israel in 2024, but also publicly warned that the U.S. would not supply weapons for a full-scale invasion of population centers.

VP Harris campaigned on a 5 point point plan which involved an immediate cease fire, release of all the hostages, plan to rebuild Gaza, back to the negotiating table for a two state solution, etc.

What Hamas and those who discouraged people NOT to vote for VP Harris contributed to was trump back into the WH, the complete destruction of Gaza, and the end of a two state solution anytime soon, if ever. By having trump in the WH a second term, not only created the current Iran war, but in trump's first term destroyed the first the Iran nuclear agreement where UN inspectors were allowed in, and that agreement could have been the basis for a negotiated settlement with Iran to address its deficiencies before ANY bombing started.

A similar thing in 2016 gave us the supreme court we have today, and likely for decades to come unless somehow we can win the Senate in the midterms.

refused to vote for VP Harris, but it opened the door to exactly what happened. They bear as much responsibility because trump told you exactly what he would do, and so did VP Harris, and despite that, they still refused to vote for VP Harris, and discouraged others to do likewise.

All one has to do is read Project 2025 to know what trump's views were, and look at russel vought who is part of the trump administration and their hardline view on Iran. Regime change was part of it.

https://www.americanprogress.org/article/project-2025-will-undermine-americas-national-security/

What is strange is you seem to leave hamas and what happened on October 7 completely out of the equation. Hamas knew exactly what would happen when they did October 7. Not only did their actions keep netanyahu in power, but it also helped trump win a second term.

and said that we would not supply weapons for a full scale invasion.
That was May 9th 2024.
It didnt stop them from continuing their attacks in Gaza for the rest of 2024 and it didnt stop the Rafah offensive which in which 1,000,000+ Palestinians were displaced.
78,300 people were killed in Gaza between October 7, 2023, and December 31, 2024. By the end of May 2024 there were 36,284 killed. That leaves about 42,000 killed after Biden paused the arms shipments of heavy bombs.
I certainly applaud what President Biden did but as we keep pointing out it did not really change anything.
What would Harris have done that would have changed that outcome that you would support? Specifically? Stop all arms sales to Israel? Stop all trade with Israel? Sanction Israel?

However, Israel was already destroying most of Gaza, increasing West Bank aggression and had already attacked Hezbollah with the exploding pagers

It was clear that Netanyahu did not listen to Biden as Gaza became an increasing disaster. They might not have attacked Iran on their own, but they would still have worked to take over vast amounts of Gaza and possibly Lebanon.

In addition to all the other reasons for Israel to continue war, every Israeli news source has mentioned that Netanyahu is advantaged politically by the country being at war.

who decided that October 7 was a "good idea", which led to the disaster now occurring, including a second term of trump, the catalyst which helped netanyahu remain in power.

Those who refused to vote for VP Harris absolutely contributed to what is happening now in the U.S. and the middle east.

October 7 knowing exactly what would happen.

That action not only helped netanyahu remain in power, but also helped elect trump to a second term.

Project 2025 told us exactly what a second term trump presidency would do, and that is exactly what is happening.

This is what Israelis wanted since the beginning of this genocide if not for decades.

Every single action Israel took since October 8, 2023 was done to realize this goal, the destruction and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Every single Israeli propaganda talking point like human shields etc was used to lull people into not believing their own eyes and even silencing their own conscience and morality.

Now it's all brazenly out in the open and no one can seriously deny Israel's duplicity and true war goals, where are Israel's defenders? Silence. Not that I would expect contrition, but can they not condemn this even now? Their condemnation and action would go a long way to stopping this horror.

It makes me doubt the initial hospital bombing that purportedly started this ongoing mess. Maybe it was Hamas, but I think they had help, and for just this purpose.

This is worse than what Putin did to Ukraine, in trying to steal their land. Everybody condemns him for his actions, but not Bibi because he's exterminating brown people.

Flame away.

Assuming you mean the hospital bombing in November 2023 that Israel claimed was caused by a Hamas misfire, why do you think that is what started the whole mess?

You are right to doubt that claim in my view but I don't want to go down that rabbit hole again. I'm more curious about your logic in thinking how that hospital incident caused the genocide and land theft etc. There are so many misconceptions out there.

This was not hidden from anyone, and yet the stupidity of some American voters decided that voting for VP Harris was a "bad thing"

and now they are upset because trump is doing exactly what he said he would do. VP Harris warned everyone. It was in Project 2025. That was his playbook.

The stupidity of the American public after 2000, 2016, and finally 2024 never fails to surprise.
