MARLBOROUGH, Mass.
School bus drivers and monitors for Marlborough Public Schools and the Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School went on strike Wednesday, citing affordable healthcare and retirement benefits as key issues, while parents and students face delays and disruptions.
Teamsters Local 170, which represents 45 Marlborough bus drivers, said the strike was prompted by the failure to reach an agreement with NRT Bus. Affordable healthcare and retirement benefits are the primary sticking points in the negotiations.
Kristen Sauer, a parent of a kindergartner and second grader, described the impact on her morning routine.
"We sat at the bus stop for a little bit and then was like, 'Alright. Let's go all while I'm trying to work,'" Sauer said.
