Trump wants to pardon 250 people for America's 250th birthday: report

Donald Trump is considering issuing 250 presidential pardons to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America, according to a new report. The president may make the announcement on June 14, his own birthday, or on July 4, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.
Trump has already faced criticism for issuing an historic number of pardons since returning to office for his second term, despite vowing to end what he described as the politicization of the Justice Department during his campaign.
Many of these were handed out to individuals convicted of crimes related to the January 6 insurrection. On his first day back in office last year Trump has issued pardons to over 1,500 of those involved in the storming of the Capitol.
The WSJ reports that plans for the 250 pardons this summer are still in the preliminary stages and that even some within the Trump administration have raised concerns that issuing too high a number of pardons could affect Republicans in the midterm elections.

(11,296 posts)He is going to be dead (soon, but nowhere near soon enough unless he is actively dying as I type this) and from all appearances, his wife hates him, his kids use his name as a piggy bank but all have deep emotional damage from his parenting and there are more people waiting to celebrate his death than one can accurately count.
So, in the end, why does this assclown care so much about it? He thinks that he will live on forever, but he will be in the same class as Rockefeller and Vanderbilt in less time. Ask 20 kids today who those people were, 18 or 19 of them won't know who they were at all and the other will get a lot of the details wrong.
Trump is a reincarnation of WC Fields, at best. In reality, he is a very genetically lucky loser from Queens who has never gotten ove that fact and his self-loathing has been allowed to harm millions in the process.
Fuck him. Die you worthless sack of shit...but do it in pain and on camera.

How do we ever recover from such blatant corruption in the highest levels of government is beyond me. Personally, I don't see the Democratic Party as a whole taking the steps that are necessary to make sure this is a one off and something that never happens again until history inevitably repeats itself some generations down the road; that is if we ever regain control to a degree that will be necessary to take those steps.
Sickening!

I'm not a lawyer. Is there any concept of international "double jeopardy"?

A top executive @ 1st Energy committed suicide and Householder is in prison along some
other Republican law makers.
Ohio is really dirty. The despite all their crimes, gerrymandering, and, being anti abortion

Im sure Householder has some of his ill gotten loot or rich fossil fuel shits ready to grease

If she dos get pardoned, I hope she write a tell all book with details that would make pornographers' blush,
on the other hand, you know that certain people will have a buller with her name on it. She would be safer on Death row.

(53,395 posts)They are Adam Fox, Joseph Morrison, Ty Garbin, Barry Croft, Kaleb Franks, Pete Musico, Shawn Fix, Paul Bellar and Brian Higgins.
"Who are they?" They are all the people who were convicted in a plot to kidnap and kill Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer and to violently overthrow the state government. There were others in the plot who were acquitted, but these are the ones who went to the hoosegow. He might not get the chance to pardon Garbin and Fix because the state prosecuted them, but he'll be especially interested in pardoning Barry Croft since he got sent to ADX Florence.
After that he'll probably spring all the Americans currently locked up in ADX Florence. This might superficially be a good thing because it'll leave more room to house the Trump Administration, but in general it would be really bad.
