House Democrat Accuses Trump of Being Ignorant or 'Lying to the American Public' About Iran's Anti-Aircraft Capabilities

During a Friday appearance on CNN, Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) accused President Donald Trump of either being ignorant or “lying to the American public” on Iran’s anti-aircraft capabilities.

His comments come as news broke on Friday that a U.S. F-15 jet was shot down over Iran by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air defense system. So far, one pilot has been rescued by American special operations forces, while the search for the second remains ongoing.

“This happened a day after the president got on TV to the nation and said, among other bombastic claims, that they had completely eliminated Iranian anti-aircraft facilities,” Moulton said, referring to Trump’s Wednesday televised address.

“24 hours later,” he continued, “they shoot down an advanced U.S. Fighter jet. This just shows how incredibly out of his league the president is. The commander in chief doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s lying to the American public, and he’s putting our troops at grave risk.”

Iran has other capabilities that they’ve hidden or have masked, and that we only learn about them when they detonate an example.

I doubt that the units involved in the fighting are sending bullshit up the chain of command.

In fact, I feel certain the information flowing to the Secretary of Defense and his senior advisors is clear as to what we do know, what we do not know, and what the possibilities are.

Somewhere between SECDFEF and his senior advisors and Trump's public pronouncements, bullshit enters the equation. Either:
-- some senior advisors (either uniformed or civlian) are making it sound good for Trump's ears, or,
-- Hegseth is injecting bullshit so he can tellTrump what he knows Trump wants to hear, or,
-- Trump is getting facts from Hegseth and is applying his own abysmal ignorance and stupidity to what comes out of his mouth.

Given the fact that both Trump and Hegseth are dumb as dirt and neither respects the truth, I suspect that's where bullshit enters the picutre -- Hegseth and Trump.

A Russian made S-300 system or an S-400.

I don't have any knowledge of what actually transpired but those are two very good ADA systems.

American planes have been flying missions at lower altitudes, which makes them more vulnerable to Iran's missiles, Taleblu said. It’s possible that Iran fired at the F-15 with a surface-to-air missile, but it's more likely that a portable, shoulder-fired missile was used, he said. Those are much harder to detect and reflect how Iran is “weak but still lethal.”

But that doesn't explain the other plane which went down in the Persian Gulf. If it was shoulder powered, you would think it would be one plane and not two?

But the NY Times says:

A spokesman for a key unit of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Saturday that the country would unveil new air defense systems on the battlefield, according to a statement carried by the semi-official Fars news agency. The statement detailed targets that it said the country’s air defense network had struck on Friday but did not mention the U.S. F-15E fighter jet that Iran downed.

____________

I really don't know what to believe.

I know Russia has beens supplying Iran.
I was kinda surprised that a fighter was flying over Iran.
Apparently, planes are now flying missions due to the lowering supply of Tomahawk missiles.

We will see what happens next...
