Lindsey Graham Faces GOP Fury--'Needs to Be Removed From the Situation Room

Source: Newsweek

Mar 23, 2026 at 05:21 AM EDT

Senator Lindsey Graham is facing fury from his fellow Republicans after expressing support for the U.S. seizing Iran’s Kharg Island in an interview on Sunday. Speaking on Fox News Sunday, the South Carolina Republican, who is one of the leading advocates for the war, said: “This has been an amazing military operation. God bless the fallen.”

He added: “I trust DOD [Department of Defense]. We got two Marine expeditionary units sailing to this island. We did Iwo Jima. We can do this. The Marines—my money is always on the Marines.” The battle of Iwo Jima, which lasted from February 19 to March 26, 1945, was one of the bloodiest of World War II. Nearly 7,000 U.S. troops were killed and around 20,000 more were wounded, while more than 21,000 Japanese troops were killed.

Graham’s remarks sparked anger from other Republicans, with Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina, saying he “needs to be removed from the Situation Room.”. She wrote on X: “I don't want to hear one word from a guy with no kids, desperately sending our sons and daughters into war on the ground in Iran.”

Florida Representative Anna Paulina Luna also slammed Graham for the remarks, saying in a post on X that she is “deeply upset at the lack of respect for life Senator Lindsey Graham is displaying when talking about our troops. He is acting as if they are expendable cattle. This is unacceptable and dark. There were over 26,000 American casualties at Iwo Jima.”

This is an active combat situation, and people need to shut up and stay silent.

The whole thing is a cluster F.

Only supports the cluster fuck. Voices need to be raised to stop this madness. This is a rogue administration literally endangering the world. In any rational time, Congress would put a stop to this folly and serious negotiations would ensue. But since Congressional Republicans are too busy kissing Trump’s ass or averting their eyes, it’s up to us, yeah, I’m going to say it, we the people. Direct action reduced the madness in Minnesota, it needs to be repeated nationwide.

US Americans are apparently still unwilling to accept the inconveniences of pronged direct-action required to recapture and reinforce our ever weakening freedom. I’ve been wondering all along when high school, college, and the working youth of our nation will bring the incredible combined power and energy of their organized presence to bear.

Lindsey although still an asshole was loyal to and stood up for his friend John McCain until
his Columbus Day 2017 golf outing w/Trump and after that he became a full time Rump
fluffer. I am pretty sure Trump showed him his pictures or videos that went well beyond just gay
sex but involved boys.

I do recall someone saying that McCain "never heard of a war he didn't like."
i didn't follow Graham back then, but a few years back would have called him one of the "adults in the room." A name we give to people RW enough to work with Trump but still in possession of some expertise, experience, and common sense. Rubio too.
