Trump threatens to 'obliterate' Iran's power plants if Strait of Hormuz isn't opened in 48 hours

Source: NBC

President Donald Trump threatened Iran in a Truth Social post Saturday evening, warning that the U.S. would target the nation’s power plants if the Strait of Hormuz remained closed.

“If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!” Trump wrote in the post.

Trump wrote another Truth Social post Saturday that the U.S. military has "blown Iran off of the map" and is "weeks ahead of schedule."

"Their leadership is gone, their navy and air force are dead, they have absolutely no defense, and they want to make a deal," Trump wrote. "I don’t!"

9. Yes, the whole region could become uninhabitable. The Straits being open will be meaningless.

There will be no oil to fill those waiting tankers. It would be catastrophic.

What would take weeks to months to get back on line and supply chains unkinked IF they stopped now, may take years. And we'll have +$5 per gas nationwide for the foreseeable future. And an economy in tatters.

Part of me wishes he'd just go ahead and do it. Blow it all up. Then no amount of voter suppression will stop the November reckoning.

Oh, right. That was Thursday's demented rant. This is Saturday's demented rant.

It's shocking that Republicans aren't ashamed of themselves.

I wish there was an adult with some influence in the WH. The republicans are fools not to try to reign him in.

Cyber attacks against SCADA systems, for one. People will be very upset if communal utility systems go haywire and water, gas, and electricity get shut off -- and that would also include banking systems going offline for some duration. And of course Russia will be there lending the Iranians a hand.

I also suspect he'll wait until Friday night if he does decide to attack Iran's infrastructure -- that would dominate the Saturday news and distract from the upcoming nationwide No Kings rallies.

I'm getting ready to make my sign:

NO KINGS!
NO PEDOS!
NO NAZIS!
NO FOOLS!
NO TRUMP!

Wasn't it all supposed to be over with the strikes on leadership? You know. Easy peasy, like Venezuela.

Can't imagine that the Region's leaders aren't making every attempt to talk Trump back from the ledge on this one.
If they fail- then, next week could get real ugly, real fast.

Iran can’t pump oil or natural gas. Most of this goes to India, China and Europe. Big surprise , this all seems to be aimed at our “competitors”.

This will only make the economic situation even worse. If oil/gas exports don’t quickly come online after this is resolved we’re in a world of hurt.

At some point the adults take over and will have to clean this up. I suspect the world order will be vastly different in 5 years. Hopefully the new boses will understand peace and respect are far cheaper than war.
