Tina Peters' lawyer says he expects Colorado governor will grant her clemency within days

Source: ABC News

March 5, 2026, 6:21 PM

An attorney representing Tina Peters, the former Colorado county clerk convicted in a scheme to breach voting systems in search of evidence of election fraud in 2020, expects the state's Democratic governor to grant her clemency within days. The move would come after an aggressive pressure campaign by President Donald Trump and his allies.

"I'm expecting her to get the commutation today or tomorrow," Peters' attorney, Peter Ticktin, told ABC News. "I don't think it's going to even go into next week."

Peters, a former Mesa County clerk, was convicted in 2024 for giving an individual affiliated with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a Trump ally, access to the election software she used for her county. Screenshots of the software appeared on right-wing websites that promoted false theories that the 2020 election was fraudulent.

Despite Trump's repeated assertions that the election was rigged, there were no proven cases of major fraud that affected the outcome.

...the next time a person of color or presumed-Democrat mistakenly casts a vote when they weren't supposed to.

How about the Gov reviews cases prosecuted by Rethugs, and treats Tina Peters likewise?

Giving pardons to all the election deniers and coup participants just tells them that in 26 & 28 they can be more violent to try to overthrow the other party.

which should be saved for if/when it happens, which is quite likely considering the extremely dry winter we've had, leaving us with record low snowpack this year.

i'm not saying it's right, just the reality of this transactional president.
