Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, one of the premier federal prosecutors offices in the United States, are reportedly being crushed by the workload as they sift through the massive trove of Epstein files as members of the public and lawmakers impatiently wait for further releases.
For weeks, hundreds of attorneys in the prestigious federal trial court have been dedicated to redacting sensitive information about survivors as required under the recently passed Epstein Files Transparency Act, U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton has told the Justice Department.
Congress initially imposed a deadline of December 19 to release all documents, including those in the New York court cases against Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. But inside the office, those familiar with the matter describe prosecutors being crushed by the work in trying to review the more than two million documents, according to Politico.
Nearly every single prosecutor, even those working on high-profile cases, as well as some top-ranking executive staff, is assisting in reviewing files. Sometimes the work can even carry into the weekend, sources the outlet. The Southern District of New York declined to comment when contacted by The Independent.

(11,792 posts)Is so they can remove Mango Mussolini's name from everything..
In fact I would bet everywhere they find his name they are deleting it and putting in Clinton's name.
Given the stunning criminality of this administration the only thing I find shocking is that people think they are actually going to get documents from this administration that would implicate him.
All that stuff likely went in a shredder months ago.
The longer it takes the less I trust the final product they produce.
Literally the only names they will "find" will shockingly only be Democrats.
Doesn't matter if we know it's not true. Doesn't matter if it's proven the documents were doctored up.
Honestly they don't even have to produce the documents at all anymore. What penalty is there for just not doing it? Absolutely nothing.

You can even find law school grads to do this work.
The absolute bullshit emanating out of the DOJ defies belief.

(7,975 posts)According to the law, the only reasons for redaction are specified in the law itself. Apply that language to the automated process and only redact what the law says. Under those guidelines, the vast majority of documents could be released without a review process. A Special Master could be appointed to oversee the process.
