Dem rep: 'Pretty clear' Trump administration does not want boat strike video released
Source: The Hill
Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.) said Sunday it is pretty clear that the Trump administration does not want to release video of a second strike on an alleged drug boat in September.
Its no different than any of the dozen-plus videos theyve already released. It seems pretty clear they dont want to release this video because they dont want people to see it, because its very, very difficult to justify, Smith told host George Stephanopoulos on ABC Newss This Week.
Smith, the ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee, reviewed the footage during a Thursday meeting with Navy Adm. Frank Bradley and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Dan Caine. Bradley, who was authorized by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to carry out the strike, and Caine briefed members of the Armed Services and Intelligence committees in both chambers of Congress.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), the chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told reporters after the briefing that the video shows the survivors of the initial strike trying to flip a boat loaded with drugs bound for the United States back over so they could stay in the fight.
