he persuaded Coca Cola, a multinational multi-billion dollar conglomerate, to change their Coke recipe from high fructose corn syrup to cane sugar...the fact that the Fanjul family (Trump's Florida neighbors/mega donors) just happen to own vast tracts of land for growing sugar cane is just a coincidence...it's about public health, after all, because as we all know Trump has always been a big health advocate.

as an aside: the last time Coke changed their recipe (1985) the backlash was so swift and so cataclysmic they were forced to go back to the original recipe...a decision so disastrous to the company's brand four decades later The Coke Debacle is a cautionary tale taught in business schools and referenced in boardrooms...lesson learned, Coca-Cola..yes/no?...

There is a theory (perhaps totally untrue) that Coke perpetrated a con upon its customers via the 1985 stunt. The theory is that Coke wanted to switch from cane sugar to corn syrup because of cost reasons. Coke knew that, if the change in recipe were to be suddenly foisted upon the customers, they would recognize the subtle change in flavor and voice complains to it. Therefore, the plan was hatched to replace the old recipe with a temporary dummy placeholder (having a notably unappealing taste) so that the customers would forget the nuanced taste of the original with its cane sugar. Coke gave the new product about a half a year to wash away the memory of the original's taste, and then it brought back the "original" recipe which replaced cane sugar with corn syrup.

The above theory may be complete nonsense, I but I wanted to throw it out for purposes of historical perspective and conspiracy-theory reference.

So changing the baseball team from the Cleveland Indians to the Guardians seemed a logical and right move to make. These statues that watch over the West and East sides of Cleveland have been there for decades since 1932. The west side of Cleveland was Lorraine Blvd. The east side became Carnegie Blvd.

Those statues and White Castle, i’m good.

I have seen pictures of the bridge with the Guardian statues and it is very impressive. If the baseball team was going to change their name, I feel “Guardians” is an inspired choice.
