Trump signs executive order on water pressure to 'restore shower freedom'

White House says order will ‘make America’s showers great again’ and ‘end the Obama-Biden war on water pressure’
Lois Beckett Wed 9 Apr 2025 19.01 EDT

A global trade-war rollercoaster was not enough to distract Donald Trump from fulfilling one of his longtime priorities on Wednesday: changing the federal definition of “shower head”, a move the White House said would “end the Obama-Biden war on water pressure”.

Trump has complained for years about inadequate water pressure in American showers, sinks and toilets, and has blamed federal water-conservation standards for the problem.

“In my case, I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair,” Trump said as he signed the executive order, which the White House said would apply to multiple household appliances, including toilets and sinks. “I have to stand under the shower for 15 minutes until it gets wet. It comes out drip, drip, drip. It’s ridiculous.”

The White House said in a statement on the executive order: “By restoring shower freedom, President Trump is following through on his commitment to dismantle unnecessary regulations and put Americans first.”...........................

I have heard Trump whine about this issue several times and am
surprised he did not have an EO ready on day One to sign!!

which, I would presume, he confuses with "water pressure" or "line pressure". It's everything to do with flow restriction devices in the shower heads themselves. But Jesus fucking Christ, what does it even matter anymore in this fucking sea of madness? Some days, I think I must have died and went to Hell too, and just don't realize it...

And one of the shower heads in my house blasts water through a ton of small openings over a large surface area (about 5 inches in diameter) and produces PLENTY of water for a very comfortable shower. I didn't install it myself it came with the house but I've no reason to think it's not compliant with federal regs. Since I'm 99% sure Trump has shower heads in his own homes that blast as much water as he wants, what I'm sure he's complaining about are shower heads in hotels he stays at. And those do typically have lower limits imposed on them than residences, that is reality. 1.8 gpm. That low of pressure is noticeable, I will stipulate to that.

But basically, this 'problem' only affects people who spend a lot of time in hotels. And him getting rid of this regulation (assuming he's even able to by EO) is not going to get hotels to change their policies because guess what? They don't want guests wasting a bunch of fucking water that they have to pay for. Also states can have their own rules when it comes to new buildings, commercial uses like hotels, etc.

It's very obvious Trump reflexively hates ANYTHING that has been done for the common good. Because be doesn't understand the concept. That's why he told John Kelly at his sons gravesite in a military cemetery "I don't get it, what was in it for them?" as he gazed at the headstones. He's hostile to the very idea of doing anything that is not expressly for one's own personal benefit.

Than any of the hotels I stay at, and NONE of them have any problem blasting my head wet in a fraction of a second.

This is a personal problem for dear leader. It’s related to his hotels.
