Trump signs 4 new executive orders, transforming military
Source: The Hill
President Trump signed a bevy of new executive orders Monday evening that have the potential to significantly transform the Defense Department (DOD).
The new orders prevent transgender people from openly serving in the military, greenlight the process of developing a missile defense shield to protect the U.S., and reinstate service members that voluntarily left or were forced out of the military over COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
Trump also penned an expected executive order that would abolish every diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) office within the DOD and Department of Homeland Security, the latter of which houses the U.S. Coast Guard. All four were signed late Monday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseths first formal day in office.
The president revoked an executive order from his predecessor, former President Biden, penned in 2021 that allowed transgender people to serve in the military. He also directed Hegseth to set new military preparedness requirements.

When I was in the Army nearly 50 years ago, we had to do a race relations class. When you have a diverse military, or any other organization for that matter, it makes sense to make sure people can work together.
Let's face it. Donny the dumbshit was a realtor, one who discriminated against people of color.

Love to all the people who dedicated their lives' work to defending us and now need defending from our own govt. This weakens us.

Yeah it can work but at what cost at that scale...which begs can it work at that scale?

(11,692 posts)...it's more about creating uncertainty in a enemy's mind about their ability to service targets effectively, making them less likely to try it in the first place.

(3,072 posts)We knew that within 50 miles of my house growing up that the Russians had at least 7 warheads aimed at us. There were at least 3 likely targets (GE jet engine plant for example within 5 miles of my house)
So unless it is nearly 100 percent effective it is useless to a foe with resources.
To Hamas, Iran, etc with small missile stockpiles it can make a difference.
To the thousands of Russian warheads it would be a minor inconvenience. Especially since old mango Mussolini will slip where the weaknesses are to foreign agents to prove he knows what is going on.

(11,692 posts)Russia is estimated to possess roughly 5,977 nuclear warheads, of which 1,588 are actively deployed.
They have to worry about their launch success rate where up to 1/3 of their 306 strategic ICBMs carrying up to 1,185 nuclear warheads may not make it to orbit, so 800+- warheads, then they have to worry about missile accuracy on the never tried polar route over the magnetic North pole making multiple warheads per target necessary, then they have to worry about detonation success rate on aged semi-maintained warheads, add missile defense on top of that making the number of warheads making it to target & detonating even more unknown and the planning becomes a nightmare without enough warheads to guarantee any kind of success at target destruction.
btw I spent the late '70's in Wash DC, target #1

The US in contrast has a low casualty rate in combat because it is well trained
and uses brains not braun when it can. And can foster high moral with a diverse group
because they are well trained.
But yes the goal is to model the US after Russia in every aspect of life.

(4,307 posts)I would guess that one reason could be that while in the service, we lived a rather insulated life -- we didn't have to learn to live and work with women, gays or transexuals. As Yo-Mama reminded me, we did have to take Race Relations classes, as some of the new recruits had never SEEN a black person except on TV!
My point is, after leaving the military, many of us were completely unprepared for civilian life, where we were usually expected to work with the general public -- sometimes even working FOR people who were outside our comfort zone.
I think many of my fellow veterans were unable to make that adjustment. As a result, they became embittered, and blamed the people they couldn't adjust to. So, I am sure that those veterans are applauding these EOs.
And the result will be a less effective military, and an endless supply of embittered veterans.

(8,258 posts)We should start publishing the names and faces behind the White House directives so that people can distinguish between the Clown Prince of Distraction and the real actors in the Coup. I know that DJT is in synch with 2025, but the real minds behind it who are writing the directives and instructing the agencies, who have organized and directed the specific attacks on Rule of Law and democratic governance, who have hidden away inside the Heritage Foundation and other conservative think tanks, need to take responsibility for their actions and their perfidious goal to promote American ISIS.
