DOJ Public Corruption Head Quits After Trump Sanctuary Cities Order: Report

The head of the Department of Justice (DOJ) public corruption unit has reportedly resigned after he was ordered to move to a sanctuary cities enforcement group within the department, according to a resignation letter obtained by Bloomberg Law.
Corey Amundson, appointed by former Attorney General William Barr, said in his letter that his resignation is effective immediately, Bloomberg Law reported.

The Context
Immigration was a central pillar of Trump's 2024 campaign and he pledged to start carrying out mass deportations on day one of his presidency. Nearly 1,000 people have been arrested since Trump took office last week, according to data released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
