Trump signs executive orders to reshape the military, including banning transgender troops
Source: CNN
President Donald Trump on Monday announced he had signed four executive orders that will reshape the military, including banning transgender service members from serving in the US armed forces; gutting the militarys diversity, equity and inclusion programs; and reinstating with back pay service members who were discharged for refusing to get vaccinated from Covid-19.
Trump said he signed the executive orders while aboard Air Force One on a return flight to Washington from Florida. CNN previously reported Trump was expected to do so, according to two White House officials.
The orders, which were first reported by the New York Post, come as Trumps nominee to lead the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, was sworn in as secretary of defense on Saturday. Hegseth has long stated he planned to implement major cultural changes to the military, including ending DEI practices and removing woke service members.
Moments after his arrival at the Pentagon on Monday, Hegseth told reporters that there are more executive orders coming.

(38,306 posts)going to be hard to fill those positions. Bros are too f--kung dumb or too out of shape
From a guy that never served throwing away 14000 troops that do. Good luck getting the BROS to join, recruited have had to lower not having a HS diploma or GED and still many are unable to meet fitness requirements.

And then there is fitness
A new study from a team of researchers from several institutions, including the University of South Carolina, found the direct medical cost of treating musculoskeletal injuries among U.S. Army recruits was $14.89 million in 2017. About 48 percent of that amount was used to treat recruits from eight Southern states who suffered injuries that affect the bones, muscles, ligaments, nerves or tendons.
The results are consistent with previous research showing Army trainees from the South have lower physical fitness and higher incidence of musculoskeletal injuries, and that poor physical fitness is a strong predictor of injury risk among Army trainees. But this study put a price tag on what those injuries are costing the country.

(227 posts)This is disgusting. I suppose trans people now serving will be given 'other than honorable' discharges as a matter of course, having any lifelong benefits they've earned be curtailed, etc, etc? Moving forward I can't imagine many trans folks will even want to serve in IQ47's new macho-fascist military regime, nor will they be drafted when the stupid shit he does plunges us into WWIII. But the people serving now? This is SO FUCKED UP for them.
