Devastating toll for Gaza's children: Over 13,000 killed and an estimated 25,000 injured, UN says

UNITED NATIONS The war in Gaza has been devastating for children: More than 13,000 have been killed, an estimated 25,000 injured, and at least 25,000 hospitalized for malnutrition, according to U.N. agencies.
As Britain's deputy U.N. ambassador, James Kariuki, recently told the Security Council, ''Gaza has become the deadliest place in the world to be a child.''
''The children of Gaza did not choose this war,'' he said, ''yet they have paid the ultimate price.''
The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported Thursday that of the 40,717 Palestinian bodies identified so far in Gaza, one-third 13,319 were children. The office said Friday the figures came from Gaza's Ministry of Health

Researchers recently published a paper in Lancet suggesting that fatalities may be significantly higher than the Gaza Health Ministry and UN have reported--in the range of 55,000-75,000.

(1,209 posts)And why should they feel bad about fighting a war they didn't start, in direct defense of their homeland?
A modern war against an entrenched enemy in a densely populated urban setting? Yeah, lots of non-combatants will be killed. Hamas chose to start that war and the Gaza population danced in the streets when they did.
I posted evidence of their targeting small children in this OP. Watch the Sunday Morning broadcast, the final link above.

(1,209 posts)A few Drs who witnessed absolutely nothing happen and saw only what Hamas showed them.
That's beyond weak.
Multiple children with two gunshots in their heads. Children blocked from leaving Gaza to the US, for no reason other than to ensure they die. Small children are not security threats. That's what you call nothing. What kind of person calls the killing of children nothing?
Not what Hamas showed them. What they witnessed with their own eyes.

(55,306 posts)You are deliberately misrepresenting the facts. It's what they witnessed with their own eyes. You do not discuss in good faith.

(14,639 posts)HAMAs fucking well knew what Israel was going to do in response to their vicious attack and were counting on it.
Their propaganda was depending on it and it seems to have worked, even here on DU.

(14,639 posts)they don't give 2 fucks what happens to the civilians in Gaza, their aim is to heap negative propaganda on Israel no matter how many civilians are harmed.

(298 posts)The right wing government of Israel is terrible, but I blame this on Hamas 100%.
HAMAS underestimated the response to kidnapping and killing Israelis. Civilians deaths are unavoidable in all wars.
I don't agree with proportional response in war. In war, we never want an equal death war against our adversaries. I believe in peace through superior firepower.

(1,548 posts)The year the conflict started Israel had already broken it's record of killing children

(14,639 posts)maybe, just maybe, if the terrorist org., HAMAs, hadn't viciously attacked Israel on 10/07, raping, mutilating, murdering innocent men, women and children, kidnapping and holding for ransom innocent civilians, then Gaza wouldn't be in ruins.
Ya think that might be the case?
HAMAs started this round of terrorism, they reap what they sow.
