I have said it before, and I stand by it, that no one wanted this war to end more than Biden. To lay the blame on his administration was no more than falling for propaganda. Unfortunately, lots of people did.

An article dated January 21, 2025 in ForeignPolicy.com, gives a reason why the cease fire brokered by Biden between Israel and Gaza is something we should follow. The final sentence of the article states:

“ If fighting in Gaza resumes after the first six-week phase of the current cease-fire, and Trump continues to provide Israel with arms and military aid as it again bombs and starves Palestinian civilians, he could also be charged with aiding and abetting Israeli war crimes.”

The NYT reported today that Trump has asked jordan and Egypt to take in all the Palestinians from Gaza, which means that they will never be allowed to return and Israel will continue their illegal theft of Palestinian lands by handing them over to Israeli settlers. Without Gaza, Palestinians will never have a country of their own, especially as Israel is now killing more of them in the West Bank. The latest atrocity was an IDF soldier who shot a 2-year-old in the head, claiming he was firing at militants.

I support Israel’s right to exist in their own country as determined in 1948. I do not support their constant theft of Palestinian lands. And yes both sides have been aggressors in this never-ending war, but Palestinians had lived in Palestine for many hundreds of years. European Jews had not, and naturally resisted someone taking their lands from them. The British handled the situation badly, as did nearby Arab nations. Better negotiations at the time might have spared a lot of bloodshed.
