CNN Rudy Giuliani has reached a settlement with two Georgia election workers that he defamed on their pursuit to collect on a $150 million debt, according to a court filing on Thursday.
Giuliani was about to face trial and potentially lose the Florida condo in which he says he lives and several New York Yankees World Series rings. He had been in litigation with the women, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, over whether his $3.5 million Florida condo is his primary residence and can be exempt from the womens debt collection efforts.
Freeman and Moss had already been awarded in court a slew of Giulianis most valuable possessions, including his $6 million Manhattan apartment, more than a dozen luxury watches, furniture and baseball memorabilia. Yet they have struggled to collect some of the items in recent months, despite multiple court orders for Giuliani to turn over his possessions.
The past four years have been a living nightmare. We have fought to clear our names, restore our reputations, and prove that we did nothing wrong, Freeman and Moss said in a statement. Today is a major milestone in our journey. We have reached an agreement and we can now move forward with our lives. We have agreed to allow Mr. Giuliani to retain his property in exchange for compensation and his promise not to ever defame us.

I hope the agreement requires a public apology and renouncing all the nutsy accusations he made.

(8,234 posts)And never will. I have faith in Moss & Freeman's legal team, but without the threat of a Federal Judge Giuliani did not honor his obligations. He will continue to delay, and defer, and blame because that's how how rolls.
He cannot do otherwise because like his mentor he's permanently bent that way.

(36,213 posts)They deserve the entire $150 million award, and probably more since Giuliani did it again.
If Giuliani is "settling" it sounds like he's been given a smaller penalty in order to avoid going to trial.
Just pay what you owe Rudy, and the zip your mouth shut.

(718 posts)This guy, after flouting all the rules, including continued defamation of Ms. Freeman and Ms. Miss, gets to stand out and say with a straight face he admitted to no liability and all this goes a way cause some benefactor was able to cash them out for Rudy.
Please tell me again how the system is fair? There has been a class war in this country for as long as there's been a country. It's just back out in the open again.
