WASHINGTON President Joe Biden issued a series of warnings Wednesday night during his farewell address to the nation, while emphasizing the work still left to be done as the octogenarian soon caps off 50 years in public service.
Biden, in remarks from the Oval Office, highlighted whats at stake regarding the threat of climate change, artificial intelligence and a dangerous concentration of power in the hands of a very few ultra-wealthy people.
Today, an oligarchy is taking shape in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead, Biden said.
He echoed concerns about a tech industrial complex, noting that Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation and disinformation, enabling the abuse of power.

No we are being buried under an avalanche of lies. Misinformation or disinformation gives the inkling of some sort of inaccuracy or misunderstanding, that is not what is happening. The American people are being intentionally lied to. Lies is the word, it's not a misunderstanding or an accident it is purposeful lying.

Misinformation is untrue but not necessarily intentional.
I mean, the word "lies" resonates with me better too. But the real issue is the deliberate lies spread by bad faith actors is the first problem, and folks being able to virally spread lies thru social media is the second.
