Ketchikan. My grandfather died when she was young. My grandmother raised 5 kids on her own after that. Try imaging yourself in Alaska doing that.

(34,648 posts)We still have homestead and farms and big families. It's nice here. Harsh and wild and beautiful. I loved my time growing up here, hiking on the trails, seeimg moose in the yard or bears downtown.
Everyone should come here just one time and catch a glimpse of how the world looked before we fucked it up.
