Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAndy Beshear is on MSNOW live right now and he is very impressive
First, I liked his response to Graham's passing. He was respectful, and said he feels for Graham's family, his sister, and loved ones. He said he never met him, and that he disagreed with his policies except Ukraine, and left it at that.
He then went on to aggressively continue calling for transparency from McConnell and his staff. He says he has heard absolutely nothing from him since first demanding this days ago. The failure to respond raises serious concerns about his capacity to serve.
He said that this all because the Rs in his state fear the possibility that he could appoint someone to fill McConnell's seat, and he thinks the Kentucky State Constitution allows him to do so.
Bottom line, this guy has a way of communicating with common sense, plain speaking, and conviction. I can see how he wins in a red state!

(26,217 posts)He seemed pretty bullish about it and he obviously thinks he has the constitutional right to do it. So we'll see, I guess.

So he wouldn't try it and based on reports, he would look foolish since apparently McConnell is alive.

(26,217 posts)but Beshear has seemed more aggressive than I gave him credit for when I first started hearing about him. He does have that kind of understated way of talking, but what he says is not wishy washy at all.

(53,603 posts)There's a very important reason for that besides the fact that he's a good governor: he is a good governor of an extremely red state. The problem we face is there are quite a few states that Al Capone would carry if he ran as a Republican. ("But Al Capone was a criminal!" "So is Donald Trump, and they elected him twice." ) Because of this, we must run the table on all the states that traditionally go blue. Andy Beshear would get us all the states we traditionally get AND some of the states that generally break red.
