This is the photo taken by David Hearn minutes before his arrest, a partially detached piece of the Reflecting Pool liner is visible. The top of Hearn's shoe can be seen at the bottom of the photo.
Hearn is a three-time Olympian who competed in the canoe slalom. He won two world championships in whitewater racing before retiring from active competition in 2002.
On Friday, Hearn said he was detained for almost five hours at a Park Police facility on Hains Point before being released shortly after 9 p.m. He was reunited with his bike and rode home.
Law enforcement seems very willing to carry out even Trump's most petty illegal acts of intimidation.

(100 posts)Also, what about the owner of GreenWater, the company that won the no bid contract? Shouldn't they be held accountable for the vandalizing? Shouldn't they return large sums of money for poor inferior work?

(1,924 posts)without large, quick temperature changes tells me just how inept a job was done. Chemicals can exacerbate delamination, but the root causes is poor application and/or preparation of the underlying material.

(3,516 posts)they didn't give enough time for the concrete to dry out completely before applying the coats. I know wood has obviously different properties than concrete, but I know you shouldn't apply coatings of any kind over saturated wood, because when the moisture gasses out, it delaminates the paint. I would think similar principles apply. Having done a little fact finding, it seems the pool should have been drained, fully cleaned, fully dried, etched, vacuumed out, and only then should the under-sealer and epoxy have been applied. Moreover, the feeder pipes should have been shocked and purged prior to refilling. It's like everything the SOB touches - half assed. No doubt the contractor laughed all the way to the bank.

(321,487 posts)David Hean's encounter with the "reflecting pool".
I read this article on ESPN yesterday.
Hearn told The Associated Press that he reached into the pool because he wanted to examine the peeling new coating. He said he briefly touched a chunk that was still attached to the side of the pool, then let go shortly after a park worker told him to.
But, Hearn said, he was then detained by National Guard troops and Park Police for five hours before being released Friday night.
"I'm a curious citizen," Hearn said in a telephone interview. "I reached down to see what it felt like. It was very rubbery."
I hope all this exposes the faulty work the PEDO's contractor did.

(3,234 posts)who has nothing left in his life to live for save attacking and terrorizing people and who, ultimately, will stop at nothing to erase and eliminate not just his actual enemies but anyone who fails to genuflect when he waddles by with a pant load of excrement dripping down his leg and onto his shoes.
But there's good news. He is, after all, 80 years old. I don't know how much longer he has before we can watch there's a State funeral procession down Pennsylvania Avenue-- a well-attended one whose respectful mourning silence will be broken by the sound of a thousand corks popping from a thousand bottles of champagne and cheers breaking out on the avenue and in the bars in D.C. where it will be like St. Paddy's Day, with crowds out the door and people jostling for a view of the TV's behind the bar, hoping that the coffin will fall off the funeral caisson and onto the street, frightening the escorting horses who, restrained by their riders from galloping away in panic, trample the cadaver repeatedly, crushing it beneath their hooves to the horror of none of the celebrants.
What a day that will be indeed! But as Yogi admonished us: it ain't over 'til it's over. Among those who would be his successor there are less charismatic but equally evil people. America, on that day, must not let its guard down when Freedom is so close to being restored here.
