Michelle and President Obama and an A-list of musical performers used the opening of the Obama Presidential Center to show us how things used to be and could be again. And Stevie topped it off with his great song "Higher Ground". It was classy, optimistic and rational, as well as being inspirational. When was the last time we experienced such things? What an absolute contrast with today's administration and message of greed, self-aggrandizement, and hatred.
We've been shown the way forward. Will we remain unified and take it? I'm not a super religious person, but I will pray for this and work for it too. One thing today's ceremony showed me is that the spirit is still there if we choose to embrace it.

(9,416 posts)Of course it gave me a feeling that I haven't had in a long time. Even before it ended with the incredible Higher Ground I was wondering what will my outlook/mood be tomorrow.

(26,016 posts)I'm enjoying it while I can and hoping it inspires others. I also hope that our candidates in November can use this ceremony as a guide for organizing rallies. Can you imagine the contrast between rallies with this spirit and a trump rally?

We need a wartime consigliere. Period.
A handful of people are full time on this matter. This very moment: Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and John Ossoff. You don't' fight this war from a desk.
Not to disparage others, but

Shout out to vets!!
