Get rid of the tariffs.
They are causing inflation.
They are taxation without representation,
They are hugely corrupt.
A Dem controlled congress should be able to make this happen with their article One powers.
When asked what they would do to lower costs for the American people, the Dem answer should be to get rid to the tariffs.
People understand that they cause inflation, and they understand corruption. These things hurt everyone.
Just sharing an interesting conversation in my head.

(56,222 posts)have caused complexity that manufacturers, distributors, retailers, shippers cannot quantify accurately at this point.
They were big tariffs, and varied geographically, they were 15%, there were exemptions and penalties, the shippers collected on them, the public paid for them, the price of fuel is up and down, the war is on and off all in the same day!
How can anyone know their costs anymore? Who eats the increases this week? Cost accounting is a whole genre, but what about all the fluctuations?

(1,315 posts)You make some great points, but I'm more focused on the message and how to communicate to voters.
Dems are rightfully focused on costs, but they need a way to explain what they would do. I think it is a real thing they could do, that would make some difference.

New paint job on the reflecting pool? Check, Huge banners of his face on public buildings? Check, Bigger bank accounts for himself and his kids? Check.
Money for the J6 insurrectionists? In your dreams.... He's hanging on to that for himself.

(31 posts)There is no doubt he is the worst president, in charge of the MOST corrupt administration in American history.
I'm too old to plot his demise, but I would gladly throw sandals in his gears given an opportunity
