Has Trump caused you to look at the power structure in the world differently?

The role of billionaires and oligarchs in politics, wars, economies, stock markets, supply chains, etc?

They are ruling the world with a stronger hand than ever in history?

When they play the fiddle, everybody does the dance.

They have taken over large parts of the "democratic" world. They are autocratic, and dictatorial, in their means.

The people have much less power today than they did just a couple of decades ago.

The powerful know they are powerful and are using it to their advantage. They are robbing the earth of its resources in their race to see how many can become "trillionaires".

Is that where we are today?

They tried this in 1939. Global Financial Businessmen were on the same page, but they backed the wrong horse, and many corporations were not global. Today the conditions are prime.

I didn't realize how awful, stupid and gullible so many people would be. I look at my fellow citizens differently now. And also I never realized how lethal casual bigotry and stupidity could can be, not really, not like I do now. I never thought our country would be doing what it is doing now, and sadly I think part of that is my own ignorance of what we've been doing all along.

I'm sorry, I think all that doesn't answer the questions being asked.

I expected most of what TrumpCo is doing. I'm surprised at how poorly they're doing most of it. I realize now that I thought the phrase "evil genius" was true, but now I see that most of the evil ones are bumbling around. They use their wealth and power to get more wealth and power and the impact on everyone else is horrible, but it's definitely not an elegant seamless takeover of the world. It's a messy wasteful takeover.

One example is our attack on Iraq. TrumpCo made a ton of money from this ridiculous foray but everything else about it is a shambles.

Sometimes it takes the form of endless greed, sometimes racism, fear mongering about some other. Some honestly think they are best equipped to rule but get lost in that delusion.

Many of them flame out without getting noticed. But some manage to find holes in their society to exploit. Hitler wasn't the first guy to blame things on Jewish people, or foreigners, he wasn't the last. But at the time Germany was primed for someone like Hitler. Maybe someone else would have focused more on France/England or Russia, or fell into his madness sooner, but maybe it would have been a general who wasn't as ambitious as Hitler and not flamed out as relatively quickly (obviously not soon enough).

"By the People, For the People" has been such a laughable fucking slogan for as long as I've been conscious. Maybe you 40s, 50s and 60s kids had it different at some point. My brain only matured to reality and politics when Reagan was elected (Gen X U-N-I-T-E!), and it's been nothing but a money grab, serving the rich and powerful and "fuck all y'all" to anyone not in that group. It was fuck the planet, fuck your health, and fuck them kids since forever. Even when we had a great leader like Obama, we only got crumbs to the best of his ability. Why? Donor class. PACs, Citizen United. We (and others) enslaving other nations and raping the world, so that the stockholders would have a better day, bigger houses could be bought, another yacht could be sailed, another private jet could be boarded. And our shit leadership is sooooo fucking beholden to other interests, it paralyzes them to do right here. $961 billion/year on defense to lose to Iran, while still letting kids go hungry, vets go homeless, so many have to choose health care OR rent OR food. Because "fuck all y'all" from the expensive seats.

As long as I've been around, WE haven't mattered much. "It's a big club, and you ain't in it." And it's not just US.

... as they did behind Trump. They felt they had the power and they were going to take full advantage of it. I don't think that would have happened again in our lifetimes. They are emboldened.
