Ok, just had a good neighbor tell me to not fly my flag upside down.

He said it was “our” flag and it’s disrespectful to fly it upside down. Ok, so how bout my smiley face flag???

4. Do it. It's none of your neighbor's business.

I'm still debating whether I should put out my upside-down US flag tomorrow, or my flag of Greenland, Ukraine, or Minnesota.

6. Tell your neighbor the US Flag Code allows it as a signal of dire distress, and tell him

that his denial that you are in such a situation is disrespectful to both you and the flag. Get loud about how you are experiencing "extreme danger to life and property" as outlined in 4 USC 8(a), and he's an asshole for trying to scold someone instead of attempting to render aid.

When dipshits don't mind their own business, put them on their backfoot.

11. I wear my flag pin upside down every day and it always gets comments.

"Dear, do you know your pin is upside down?"
"Yes, and it's quite deliberate because it's the international sign of distress. Our country is IN distress and will be until January 20, 2029."

Sometimes I get a blank stare or a sneer. (I live in red South Carolina, after all.)
More often of late, however, I get a grin, a chuckle. a pat on the arm, or a hearty handshake in agreement.
It's my own personal survey and sociological experiment.
