Pentagon Cancels Wreath-Laying Ceremony for Women Veterans at Arlington Cemetery, A Disgrace - 2 ParagraphsThe branches cited Trump's Executive Order 14185 and guidance issued by Pete Hegseths Department of Defense entitled Identity Months Dead at DOD, which they interpret as barring the military from attending an event that honors women.
The Democratic Womens Caucus (DWC), led by Vice Chair Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-OH), hosted a press conference to honor the fallen servicewomen and women veterans who were to be honored at the ceremony.
Several Democratic congresswomen spoke at the press conference, including fellow DWC Vice Chair Hillary Scholten (D-MI), who said: Our servicewomen risk everything to serve our country and for them to be met with anything other than respect and honor is an absolute disgrace. To every servicewoman and veteran, thank you for your servicewe are forever grateful for your courage, sacrifice, and immense contributions to our country. Every day, I am proud to be a voice for you in Congress, and I will always fight for your equal treatment and respect.
But I'm sure Chief Bonespurs thanks them for their service.

(8,166 posts)I'm one of those female veterans, and I'm highly offended at the slight. And to add insult to injury, it was MY service branch that was mentioned in the article. Air Force, how low you fly these days, it seems. Shame on you; shame on the Pentagon. There is no shame or hope of shame for Kegsbreath, unfortunately.
To all my sister veterans, I salute you. WE know what we had to put up with and how we had to fight for recognition and dignity during those early years of opening the services to women. Even if our country won't recognize us anymore, we still stand in solidarity with each other and the Constitution!
