As bleak as our world seems these days, I experienced a kind deed today at

the store. A woman ahead of me turned to me, smiled, and looked at the cashier..."add her items to mine -- I'm paying." I asked her why she did that. "We all need kindness," she said. "Just pay it forward."

All is not lost. We're going to survive the chaos to come back better than MAGA, and we will.

I don't normally buy from Starbucks anymore, but I had a big SNOTTY cold and drove through for a "Medicine Ball" (off menu, try it when you're sick). To find out it had been paid for made me feel just a little bit better.

A woman paid for him and by the time he figured out what she was doing, she had left and he couldn't thank her. He's getting up there, and thought it was because she felt sorry for him. But I told him about the "pay it forward" thing and he ended up giving money to someone in the parking lot and trying to direct him to where the person could get free meals in town. So he did pay it forward. ;

It's good to receive or give one. Volunteering is one of the things that keeps my mental health better.

I also did it at Costco when the family in front of me was buying a birthday cake and decided
they couldn't afford it. I told the cashier I'd pay for it.
I wasn't going to have a child, NOT have a birthday cake.

Classroom supplies.
Chatting with the guy buying multiple notebooks and pencils.
Found out he was using his own money to pay.
It made my day.

I first ask if they're a teacher and which school.
I'll pay if it's a public school, not a private school.

This was a beautiful thing. Thanks for the reminder. I needed it.

I try to pay things forward when I have the opportunity, and when *I* get that opportunity, it always makes me feel good.

She just said "don't worry about it."

This cashier is a dear, middle aged lady with bad knees - but who herself needs to keep working because she needs the money (and on top of that, has a teen daughter with emotional/rage problems).

While she's very different physically, her face reminds me of Jill Biden's. Decency - and a bit of weariness - written all over it.

Turns out it was a neighbor - who I have little interaction with him or his family - and he gave me a medium size goodie bag of chocolates and cookies. Surprised when he said "For being a good neighbor".

Frankly I'm a little overwhelmed by his generosity.

There is still kindness and compassion in the world, it's just not heard about, because Trump and his loud hateful followers drown out the good. Trump can't stand anything that is good or compassionate.

I'm not giving up and I'm so glad to see your post. I too, believe we will get through this and be stronger than ever.
