Trump and Hegseth Bomb Civilians' Water—20,000 Now Face Deadly Thirst in 113° Heat
Hegseth Defends Attack on Water Tanks as ‘Negotiating With Bombs’—Critics Call It a War Crime

The Trump administration bombed two drinking water reservoirs in southern Iran before dawn Wednesday, cutting off access to clean water for 20,000 civilians as temperatures soar past 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit), according to Iranian officials and international news reports.

The reservoirs—a 500‑cubic‑meter tank and a 2,000‑cubic‑meter tank—served the town of Kuhestak and ten surrounding villages in Hormozgan province. Both were completely destroyed in what Iran’s Foreign Ministry called “a calculated war crime”.

“This is not collateral damage,” said Esmaeil Baghaei, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman. “It is a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law”.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth rejected that accusation, telling reporters that U.S. forces “will hit them hard on our terms on the targets that improve the environment for us to operate in”. When asked whether targeting civilian water infrastructure amounts to a war crime, Hegseth called the question “disingenuous” and accused the media of “impugning the motives” of American troops. He then added: “If we need to negotiate with bombs, we’ll negotiate with bombs, and we’re very good at it”. Civilians be damned.

In a sign of desperation, Donald Trump announced additional strikes would follow. “We hit them hard yesterday, and we’re going to hit them again hard today,” Trump said. “We’ll see what happens with the deal. We were really close to a deal, but they keep tapping us along. They keep playing us for suckers”.

There's a lot of US important infrastructure that's not very well secured. And has not been for decades.
Just saying.

Those people will slowly die of thirst and/or heat, and Trump and Hegseth don’t care. Worse yet, they’ll probably enjoy it. This has to be stopped.

...that were destroyed or damaged, also " improve the environment..."?

In Hegseth's view the answrr is probably yes.

It's what happens when precedents are set trashing international law and basic humanity and the perpetrators keep getting away with it.

Just ask the people of Gaza about water tanks and drinking water.

Trump must have 666 tattooed on his giant behind, and while he's not smart enough to be the anti-christ he is definitely a minor demon of some sort...while I don't believe in such things I'm willing to make an exception for him...

functionality. Should Iran retaliate in like kind fashion in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait et al, the ME economy dies.

I know the ICC has no pull in the US, but I hope like hell one of these countries involved in this fiasco rises up and smites trump but good. I only hope our service members are out of the way. I want trump to pay... and only trump and his band of incels... and I want the price to be dear.

What's worse, I'm becoming more terrified each day that one day soon we will see a major retaliation on our home grounds, killing and maiming thousands of our citizens. trump is out of his mind; more and more of his proclamations seem manic in tone and presentation. He revels in the inhumane cruelty, and we are the ones who will pay for his insanity.

I've reached the point where I give deep consideration before attending popular, well-attended activities in my city. Nowhere is 100% safe anymore and, while "it shouldn't happen here", it may well.

trump scares the shit out of me.

for what we're doing now over the next three years to the world. Just over a quarter of the way in, but I feel pretty safe in saying that Mr. trump and putin will be memorialized as the two most infectious problems of the 21st century.
