Gwyneth Paltrow Is Advertising Luxury Israeli Real Estate

Well, it looks like Gwyneth Paltrow is the new face of a luxury real-estate development in Israel. The actress and wellness entrepreneur’s latest role is in an ad for 51 Park, two 51-story towers in Herzliya, Israel, a coastal city just north of Tel Aviv. Paltrow is now facing widespread criticism online for promoting an Israeli company as the death toll in Gaza approaches 73,000 amid Israel’s military offensive.

In the commercial, which was filmed in New York, a chipper Paltrow runs through Central Park and extolls the values of living near a park. After her run, she asks her driver to take her to “51 Park.” When he asks, “New York?,” she responds with a peppy, “Herzliya, Israel!”

In a LinkedIn post, Gabi Attal, CEO of Israeli creative agency Why Worry, wrote that Paltrow was the perfect person for the campaign. “To bring this architectural masterpiece to the Israeli audience, we needed a figure who effortlessly embodies international elegance, a premium lifestyle, and uncompromising quality,” he wrote. “Enter Academy Award, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Gwyneth Paltrow.”

... popular press. Other than one good movie, Shakespeare in Love, she makes no impression on me. Though I find Paltrow's being a source of much wicked humor funny as fuck.

I'm convinced none of this means diddly squat to Miss Paltrow.

And, to all of you, I ask please...

Stop seeing actors as 'role models'. Stop seeing them as anything other an a person doing a job. Sure, some are really good at it. But, they are still just human beings.

Which means that they can be good at their jobs but still be shit as a person.

She is a person looking for work. She found some. Some may say she should have morals. Some say she is just being a smart business person. Either way, she is doing this for money. Just like anyone else.

(You know, the sole reason for existence, here in the US?)

You want 'role models'... look to historical figures. Look to the everyday nurse that saves lives or the person who stands up for what is right to a bully corporation ... and, even they are still 'just people'.

This 'glamour' factor is really ruining our ability to see a real 'role model'.

Not only does her character die, she"s then on the slab for the autopsy (it involves a model of Paltrow's head made for the movie "Seven" that was never used).
